Lose Weight Really Fast-Is Your Your Intestinal Flora Hijacking Your Weight Loss Efforts?

Everybody knows that losing really fast isn’t easy. Most people know that rapid weight loss can result in a person gaining it back over time. I just found out that if you desire to lose weight fast and easy, which is the best way, you have to pay attention to your intestines. Did you know that you play host to a legion of bacteria in your intestines, many of them beneficial? They play a role not only in digestion, but produce essential vitamins, stop the growth of harmful bacteria, and aid the immune system.

There are estimated to be over ten times the number of bacteria in the intestines than cells in the body and what gut flora you are harboring may actually have something to do with weight gain. Something you may have never even known existed may be affecting the success of your diet plans!

Research in both humans and lab animals has shown that obese individual have a different ratio of gut flora, those bacteria in the intestines. Studies have shown that the bacteria taken from obese mice and put into lean mice will make them fat even when their food supply is reduced! So it could be the bacteria hiding under that belly fat contributing to the excess weight.

So what exactly is going on and is there anything you can do about it? It appears that the difference in the energy-absorbing capabilities differ between the bacteria in obese individuals and those in lean ones. The bacteria play a vital role in the digestion and metabolism of fatty acids (dietary fats) and polysaccharides ( carbohydrates) and those that live in the guts of the obese seem to definitely be contributing to weight gain.

These tiny microorganisms may be responsible for causing metabolic syndrome with accompanying weight gain, hypertension, and high cholesterol. They may even be triggering increased desire for food.

So what is the solution? Along with exercise, plenty of pure water, and healthy food, the fastest way to encourage beneficial bacteria in your gut is to completely cut out junk food, processed food, and sugars. Things like antibiotics, pollution, and chlorinated water can all reduce the numbers of good bacteria. You can also use probiotic supplements and fermented foods like sauerkraut and pickled vegetables as well as fermented milk products like kefir and plain yogurt. Remember to skip the high calorie fruit yogurts and never buy “lite” yogurts full of artificial sweeteners and flavorings.

By eating fermented foods as well as following the other advice covered in this article, you can replace the good bacteria and start losing weight really fast.

To Your Success,
Monique Hawkins
