Tip #81: Work Out a few days a week

Exercise experts recommend that we get an aerobic workout at least five days a week, but strength training works with two or three sessions a week. We used to think three strength training sessions were required per week in order to be effective, but that "magic number" has been reduced in recent years.

Tip #82: Rest Those muscles

It is recommended that you skip a day between strength training sessions to give your muscles a rest. For example, you could do strength training only on Monday and Wednesday or just Tuesday and Thursday and be getting enough workouts to see results.

Tip #83: Mark those calendars!

If you just say you're going to meet your goal sometime this year, that's probably too broad a timeframe. In fact, you may fall into the I'll-start-my-diet-next-Monday trap if you leave it too wide open. Instead, mark your calendar for a certain date for each goal that you want to meet. For example, by June I would like to be walking two miles a day.

BMI -- which stands for Body Mass Index -- is an excellent way to determine how close you are to a healthy weight. It is a better alternative to just stepping on a scale and being done with assessing your weight via the numbers on the scale. Why? It's more accurate than just weighing yourself because it takes your height into account in its results.

Tip #87: Eat Your Salad

Nothing gets bland sooner than a plain old salad made with iceberg lettuce; it's low on flavor and nutrients. Always keep baby greens like spinach on hand and keep that crisper stocked with fresh salad veggies like cucumbers and carrots to slice or shred and make a salad more tasty.

Tip #88: Get Some Fresh Lemons

A fresh lemon or bottled lemon juice will add extra zing to grilled or broiled fish, whether it be fresh or frozen.

Tip #89: Eat Herbs

Try adding new herbs and spices to your veggies and entrees. Dried herbs are actually more flavorful than fresh. Experiment with basil, dill, tarragon, curry, and others until you find your favorites.

Tip #90: Be Careful with Calorie Reduction

Making a too-drastic cut in your caloric intake is not a good idea. It's only human to think if cutting calories is such a good thing... the more you cut, the better. But, in actuality, the opposite is true: Your weight loss will stall.
