I was just browsing through my Shape magazine yesterday and came across a great article about how to beat belly fat. Losing belly fat is one of those things that those of us who desire to get skinny quick want to do.
The article talked about how some foods are better for shedding inches than others. Sari Greaves, R.D., a New York City nutritionist talked about how there is no single exercise movement or magic pill to zap the fat. You have to lose overall body fat to trim your mid section.
One way to do this is to eat certain foods. It has been found that those who follow a low fat diet rich in fiber and nutrients were three times less likely to put on the put on the pounds around the middle.
Over the next couple of posts, I'll share what some of these foods are: those to eat more of and those to avoid.
Eat more of. . . . .
1. Melons such as honeydew and cantaloupe. These fruits have fewer than 50 calories a slice and are high in potassium. What this does is keep your sodium levels in check and causes less belly bloating.
2. Whole grain breads. Researchers have found that those who eat at least 5 servings of whole grains while following a low calorie diet shed 24% more ab fat that those who ate the same number of calories, but ate refined grains. So, eat things like oatmeal, millet, whole wheat bread, etc.
More to come in the next post!
